Alright, so I finally found the muse to sort all my notes on the autowalk tool and the processes I need to get done better.

After sorting through a VERY big pile of sketches, formulars and script snippets, I started laying out all the functions I need and also started writing them up in python.

I’ve attached couple of shots of the new control window - you can now add and edit values easier, and also all the values are kept up to date- meaning, if you close the window, itll show you all the previous settings you entered. I’ve added custom values, and will add more features to it as soon as I get the basics done - the current version on CreativeCrash.com is still very limited, and I’d like to provide a version that works at least in its most basic ways. 

One of the features I plan to add is a direct-control panel, which allows the user to manipulate several curves at once, using one slider (i.e. if you’d like the character to walk more bend over, or have his foot drag along on one side).

But thats still a quite a bit down the road. :)

quickSort Python script

So I started to learn python a couple of days back and scripted some simple tools to optimize the pipeline. QuickSort sorts files from one folder into the CryEngine’s directory(or any other directory really; just needs some editting to do that).

I will most likely use this as a base for my asset management tool, on which i’ve been wokring on (aside from the autoWalk MEL script, which btw, will be re-written in python. SO much simpler and efficient ;D)

You’ll need easygui and python 2.7 on ur machine to run this (I haven’t figured out how to compile the .py files. py2exe is being a bit bitchy about this. Ah well.)

What it does:

-Asks you for the origin path and the target CryEngine path

-Then asks which of the assets and also what type of files you’d like to move

-Copies all files which fall into this grid.

*Note: you have to name your folders and files properly. AssetName_description.ext
%CE3 Rootpath%/Game -> /animations/character/AssetName
%CE3 Rootpath%/Game -> /objects/character/AssetName 

You’re always free to mod the script to fit your directory needs. By default, it uses the /objects/character & /animations/character folders. The extension which the script looks for can also be modded. the asset name list is acquired at runtime.

Right now, we’re just looking for a shaderartist/programmer, but of course Im not going to mind anyone else who’s interested :D

for now, we’re still concepting - the high concept is still pretty rough, and a prototype for the shader is needed (hence, the shader dude).

It’s a little pastime project I had to shelve about a year ago, bcuz I didnt have the right people to do it with; Now, I figured, i might just try an do it before It gathers too much dust and rots on my dropbox :P

January Update!

I know, I know! It’s been over a month, but I figured i’ll better post an update later than never ;D

Things are a little up-side-down atm, as I am staying at a friends place (for a little over two weeks now) in Berlin - thats right, Im back in the capitol of good old Germany, as I have found a pretty amazing workplace at Infernum Studios :)

I’ve been busy ever since I started there, getting to know the CryEngine 3 and pretty much all of its Asset Creation Pipelines (started with animation & model export/implementation, to sound implementation and even a little code); Yes that means I have not gotten around to working on any personal projects but they’re still up on my task board.

I DID get Jeeves, the robot, done (as in skinning & rigging) and hopefully the mods will put it up for dload on creativecrash soon!

 So basically: Im still alive, working my ass off (and loving it!) and intend on picking up all my projects once I’ve got a place of my own!
